Charlotte’s summer festivals begin in June with the annual Celebrate Charlotte Festival held on Father’s Day Weekend each year. Celebrate Charlotte features a car show, live music, fireworks, as well as a fly-in and pancake breakfast on Sunday morning at Beach Airport. For information on participating in or attending Celebrate Charlotte, contact the Charlotte Chamber at 517-543-0400
The Charlotte Bluegrass Festival is held at the 4-H Fairgrounds, and is the oldest continuously running bluegrass festival in Michigan. Each years, many of the biggest names in bluegrass music spend three days in Charlotte performing for residents and visitors alike.
The festival fun continues in the fall with Charlotte Frontier Days, Charlotte’s most popular event held the week after Labor Day, featuring the Frontier Days Saloon and its Dancing Deputies, as well as the professional rodeo, arts and crafts market, and one of the best parades in Michigan. To reach the Frontier Day Office, call 517-543-3325.
Halloween is marked with the annual Halloween Costume Parade, in which hundreds of Charlotte children trick or treat down main street in their costumes. It’s a great family event. As is the annual Lighted Holiday Parade, Tree Lighting and Community Sing-A-Long, held each year just after Thanksgiving. It’s at this event each year that Santa Clause makes his first holiday appearance!
